Standing Liberty Quarters

Thoughts?

They seem absurdly worn for junk silver and not too valuable numismatically. I have some and I might just sell them off for the sake of uniformity.

These are awesome coins, but few very good examples due to the high relief and continuous use.

While I was doing some research and thinking about selling I ran across pics of some in great condition. They are nice, unfortunately all of mine look like slick ghosts!

my favorite modern coin. ones that i don't have in my coin collection will be sold 1st when i sell off silver. they are indeed worn. it is worth making a $10 roll of junk standing libs and comparing them to a roll of 1964 washington quarters. it will appear you are missing some quarters in your lib stack. if we ever get real bad off, i imagine silver/gold will only be sold by weight, not face $ amount. same problem with the beautiful walking halves. i now only buy washingtons and kennedys

You might be right about the weight, but to some the readily recognized silver coins like SLQ's, Franklin halves, or Walking Liberty halves have some value (no need to check date or do drop test to see if its silver). If given the choice though, I like mine with the most silver possible. :coolbeer:

It would really be cool if they would make a silver eagle with this design on the front.

Started looking at the little jewels on eBay and just snipered one under spot! Looks like I'll be selling later...

The Standing Liberty Quarter is my favorite coin. There is a 1 oz. .999 round replica I see every once in a while. It's a nice piece.

This said, if I had any warn SL's I would sell or trade them off for Wash. quarters (or something else if I wanted to) that are in much better shape and thus most likely, will be far more desirable/liquid down the road.

If you do decide to sell them, I would be interested in purchasing them.

If you can make out the date on your SLQ you're doing better than most folks. Most of the SLQs I've come across are worn smooth with very little detail remaining. But they are one of the prettier U.S. coin designs IMO. Here's one from my collection that still looks pretty decent. I'm thinking it might be nice enough to grade AU-53 but I've no plans to submit it.
